I changed the scale for the mapping of the steepness of slopes. Before it was like a scientific rainbow scale: blue at the bottom and red at the top. But that meant that blue was Beginner and green was Intermediate. It was a pain to have to explain that to people each time, so I inverted the scale and shifted it so that now green is Beginner and blue is Intermediate, just as you would expect. That makes yellow at the top instead of red for “danger”, but actually it’s kind of cool because yellow is visually brighter than red.
So now I have to redo the ones I had, there were about 12 of them. But that’s okay because most of them didn’t have trail names or lifts anyway, since I had never found a good VRML editing tool until recently, I was doing it all “by hand.” Now I’m using Flux Studio, things should start moving along nicely now.
So the plan is to add back all the raw maps I had before plus a few more, and then to gradually add detail to each one. I’ll be keeping track of the progress here, and making note of significant ocurrences for 3dSKiMaps, should there be any.
