What In The World Is The Deal With Microsoft?

I began fixing up the 3dSkiMaps web pages to make them more logically laid out, easier to use, better looking, better for advertising. So I get it looking okay in Firefox, and then when I’m at work I remember to check what it looks like in Internet Explorer. A lot of the text is gone, the menus are either missing or unusable, most of the formatting is out of whack, and not just by pixels, I mean way out. This was on IE7. So I get back home where I still have IE6, and it’s a little better, but it doesn’t have the right text sizes, most of it just looks crappy.

So what is it with Microsoft? Don’t they have enough money to pay someone to write software correctly? Why does everyone else seem to have such a comparatively easy time of it? It’s just insane that developers still have to write ugly workarounds just to get Internet Explorer to behave as though it were standards compliant - 43% of my users use Internet Explorer, so I can’t ignore it.
