I posed these in the comments to the JH page but realized this might be a better place. I'm interested in getting the poster, but just wanted to verify a couple things before ordering:

(1) Is the current version of the poster at CafePress accurate--you had mentioned in the comments to the JH page that you were making a correction to your calculations?

(2) In the zoomified version, it seems like double diamonds and double squares are not shown. Is that the case for the poster as well? Thanks.

Thanks!

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, but haven't had the time or the cash for it. I've focused this past year on building an audience through the website, and on making some t-shirts and posters because those can be made just-in-time through places like CafePress. A handheld map would need to be laminated so it would require a different business model for production, inventory, distribution, since nobody's doing that in a just-in-time model.

I've made scaled down versions of the posters and had them laminated at Kinko's. It works alright, but it's not really a product. You have my permission to make prints of whatever resort you're going to, as long as you don't start selling them on the slopes.

As for a possible partnership? Yes, I'm open to that. Contact offline?

These 3D maps would be prefect to take on the slopes so my wife and I would know where to ski within our abilities.

If only they were on a piece of plastic about 4” x 3” (or something like that), I know I would buy one to have in my pocket...and would buy one for my wife too. That way, both of us would know where to ski...and where not to.

Anyway, I’m wondering if it’s alright to print them out (8.5x11”) for our upcoming trip and have them on hand in the new area. (This could very well be a small business sideline that could easily be sold at the resorts and ski shops throughout the covered areas).
Hmmmmm....need a partner?

Nice job.

The regularly available elevation data for Canada is on 30 meter posts, and it looks really blocky. Of course, the aerial photos are at 1 meter resolution, but the elevation data is how the slope colors are made.

I'll bet Whistler/Blackomb have done a hi-res (~1 meter) LiDAR scan of their resort, though. So I'm going to keep at it, trying to get my hands on that data and tie in to the Olympic spirit.

Anyway, thanks for the list. I knew about Niseko, but not about Nozawa Onsen or Hakuba. Man, that Hakuba complex is beautiful. I keep thinking if I can interest the resorts in commissioning some 3dSkiMaps, that would be the way to get the best data.

Great. I think this type of poster is a great revenue source. (As a web site developer, everything I do is geared towards this).

Let me know when this is avaiable, and I'll purchase.

Thank you for your request. At the moment, 3dSkiMaps is in startup mode, attacking on many fronts at once. But we do put top priority on direct requests, so we'll be working on a Park City poster right away. We'll notify you when it's ready. We haven't processed the data for Alta and Snowbird yet, so those will take a little longer.

How can I do this? I went to the shop, but only saw Jackson Hole.
